I was ready to spend upto $700 on iPad.. but now Apple is not going to get even a cent from me. iPad is the most disappointing product release of recent times. They could have simply blown away the tablet/netbook market but they failed miserably. iPad in the current form will be bought only by the fanboys.

What I hate about Steve Jobs and his company is that they think they know what you need and what you don't need. They are also a bunch of liars. I am calling them liars because they call this piece of crap 'magical'. What a pathetic attitude!

@Karl Download iTunes on any supported OS, including Windows 7, and you'll get the same 'tight' integration of services.

@xPeach From a technical standpoint, it's not a wash. From a consumer's eyes, the only different is keyboard.

Not to mention the HDMI and USB ports. Presently, Windows 7 offers more flexibility and functionality. It's worth trading a touchscreen for. Don't expect to be doing any typing on an iPad.

Jobs did say this is a consumption device. Let's say netbooks are 70% good at consumption than the iPad. Netbooks still offer a solid creation flexibility because of the keyboard. Same size screen too.

I don't think anyone has though about it like that. iPhone OS vs. Windows 7.

However, that argument implies that you think all the other hardware aspects of it are a wash, which I don't agree on.

Funny you should mention that. My next draft post is on this issue. Privacy on the internet is non-existent. At a certain point, you're going to have to trust someone with your information.

I look at not where my eggs are, but the fact they are out there, which again is inevitable. Would you rather have different info with different companies, risking part of your info being released if even one of those companies sell out. Or having everything with one company that you've trusted before?

All great points, but my big question is what is Google doing with all this information. I use other Google services and I would rather not have all my eggs in one basket. I use OpenDNS mainly because I don't like using the Comcast DNS servers. They have blocked sites in the past. I also like some of the customization features OpenDSN offers that Google does not.
